TSCRA Young Leadership Series Workshop July 8-9, 2008 Plan to attend the first TSCRA Young Leadership Series workshop July 8-9 in Austin. It's a great opportunity to learn about becoming a valuable resource for the beef industry and TSCRA! The TSCRA Young Leadership Series provides interactive learning experiences for emerging leaders to ensure that TSCRA remains at the forefront of the beef industry. The first workshop is scheduled for July 8-9 in Austin and will focus on the importance of young leaders in the political process and on media interview training. The YLS workshop will be held at the Omni Southpark Hotel, 4140 Governor's Row, Austin. TSCRA has reserved a block of rooms at the Omni, so be sure to mention the Series upon making your reservation before the June 24 deadline. For hotel reservations call (512) 448-2222. Registration is limited to the first 50 people so sign-up today! The workshop begins with a luncheon at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 8th. Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples will speak on the importance of young leaders in the political process. Afternoon breakout sessions will encompass current federal and state issues, connecting and communicating with elected officals and navigating the state legislative process. Wednesday's topics will cover the importance of being an effective spokesperson, media interviews and dealing with legislative staff. The workshop concludes at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 9th. As an added bonus, the YLS workshop participants will join TSCRA PAC 1000 contributors on Tuesday evening at the TDS Exotic Game Ranch and Pavillion south of Austin for a reception with elected officals and their staff. This is a unique opportunity to meet TSCRA members and political officials. Registration is restricted to individuals 19-40 years of age and is complimentary for TSCRA members, including student members, thanks to our sponsor Micro Beef Technologies. The registration fee for non-TSCRA members is $90 ($25 for students) and includes a one-year TSCRA membership.
