FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Cattle
Raisers to hold membership gathering in New Summerfield
FORT WORTH,
Texas, April 21, 2005―Beef cattle producers in the New Summerfield
area are invited to attend a free TSCRA membership gathering and
educational program on Tuesday, May 17.
Participants can earn one CEU for their pesticide applicator’s
license. You don’t have to be a TSCRA member to attend. Registration
begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by an introduction and welcome from Texas
and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.
The educational program begins at 6:10 p.m. with a presentation
on effective horn fly control by a representative of Bayer Animal
Health. Following will be a discussion of the U.S. Animal Identification
Plan, why it’s needed and how it will affect cattle producers.
A complimentary supper will be served at 7:45 p.m., and there
will be lots of time to meet and visit with other producers.
“The purpose of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers
Association’s membership gatherings is two-fold,” says TSCRA
President Dick Sherron. “We want to provide local opportunities for
cattle producers to meet, visit and get some good information. But more
importantly, we want to concentrate on gathering up some new members.
“Please come and bring your friends and neighbors who should be
members of TSCRA,” Sherron urges. “We must increase the number of
cattle producers we represent if TSCRA is to continue to be an effective
voice for beef producers.”
Tri-County Livestock Market, Inc. is hosting the event at their
facilities on Highway 79 North, three miles from New Summerfield. For
directions, call (903) 726-3291.
Sponsors are Bayer Animal Health, AgriLand FCS, Fish & Still
Equipment, Inc. and Heritage Land Bank.
There is no charge to attend the gathering; however, to help the
hosts in planning for the event, please let TSCRA know by May 10 if you
plan to attend. To RSVP call Jackie Yeager at 1 (800) 242-7820, ext.
145.
Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is a
128-year-old trade organization whose 13,000 members manage
approximately 5.4 million cattle on 70.3 million acres of range and
pasture land, primarily in Texas and Oklahoma.
