Cattle Raisers elect officers for 2008-2009
FORT WORTH, Texas, April 15, 2008—Members of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association elected officers for 2008-2009 during their 131st annual convention recently held in Corpus Christi.
Jon Means of Van Horn was re-elected as president, G.
Dave Scott of Richmond as first vice president, and Joe Parker Jr. of Byers as second vice president.
Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Susan Combs was named an honorary vice president. She operates Combs Cattle Co., a family ranching business run continuously since
1882 in Brewster County, Texas. Combs is a longtime TSCRA leader, having been elected a director in 1989. She was elected Texas Agriculture Commissioner before becoming comptroller.
New honorary directors are George Beggs IV of Fort Worth; William A. "Bill" Gearhart of Montgomery; Hatch C. Smith of Llano; Edward B. "Booster" Stephenson of Liberty; and Russell "Rusty" Noble of Ardmore, Okla.
"TSCRA is
fortunate to have a structure which allows us to retain the leadership of
members like these six cattle raisers in our association. It's good to know their counsel will still be available to the TSCRA leaders in the coming years," said Means.
These TSCRA members were elected to the board of directors: Mary Lou Bradley-Henderson, Bradley 3 Ranch, Memphis; Jim L. Gates, Gates Cattle Co., Pearsall; Tom J. Haynie, Haynie Ranch, Navasota; Don Keeling, Pleasanton; Brian T. McLaughlin, Double M Ranch, San Angelo; Diaz W. Murray, F Bar Springs Ranch LLC, Wichita Falls; C. Paxton Ramsey Jr., 7L Land and Cattle, Devers; and Dale A. Smith, Corsino Cattle Co., Amarillo.
Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is a 131-year-old trade
organization whose 15,000 members manage approximately 3.7 million cattle on 96.5 million acres of range and pasture land, primarily in Texas and Oklahoma. TSCRA provides law enforcement services, livestock inspection, legislative and regulatory advocacy and education opportunities for
its members.
