If you have a problem with feral hogs, how do you deal with it?

Gene Walker Sr.
Aguilares, Texas

"Changed method of feeding to keep hogs from getting any of the feed."

David Saiz
Houston, Texas

"We ranch close to the Trinity River and have a lot of problems with hogs. They damage our hayfields, equipment, pastures and pose a threat to people. We have tried traps from the Extension service, which have worked the first two or three times. But, the hogs are smart and they eventually figured it out and avoided the traps. My dad and I would prefer not to have hunters on the property. I would welcome some new ideas."

John D. Glass Jr.
Tyler, Texas
Pasture lessor

"Trap and paid hunters to harvest."

Todd McCartney
Eliasville, Texas
R.A. Brown Ranch

"A potential problem was transformed into a profit using a little ingenuity. With the price of live wild hogs being strong, we built a trap out of scrap material. We bait it with spoiled grain and I give the sale money to my wife. Now she's checking and baiting the trap and I'm saving money. Just this week, she saw a 'new sofa, complete with pillows' heading across the pasture."

Robert L. Bruner
Hunstville, Texas
Commercial and purebred Angus producer

"Trap and invite hunters."

Weldon Hawley
Vernon, Texas
W.T. Waggoner Estate

"We are having problems with hogs, but we do not have a solution for it now."
