Senate Finance Committee opens series of tax hearings On May 13, the Senate Finance Committee held the first of what is expected to be a series of six tax policy hearings. The hearing, entitled: "Cracking the Code -- Tax Reform for Individuals," focused on the role of taxes on the individual tax payer. Panel members included: Dr. Leonard Burman from the Urban Institute; Dr. William Gale from the Brookings Institute; Mr. Stephen Entin from the Institute for Research on the Economics of Taxation; and Dr. J.D. Foster from the Heritage Foundation.
