Congress continues to weigh Food vs. Fuel issue Congress hosted four separate hearings this week related to global food price increases, including review of any connection between these price increases and renewable fuels production. On May 14, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hosted a hearing entitled: "Responding to the Global Food Crisis." The House Committee on Financial Services held a hearing the same day, entitled: "Contributing Factors and International Responses to the Global Food Crisis." The House Committee on Small Business held a hearing May 15, entitled: "Food prices and Small Businesses," while the House Ag Committee’s Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management held a hearing to review whether dramatic movements in commodity markets (agriculture and energy) are due to a change in market fundamentals or the influence of institutional investors.
