Weekly Crime Watch for June 23: Cattle, saddles, all-terrain vehicles and tractors seem to be appealing to thieves recently. Special Rangers Ben Eggleston, District 2; Doug Hutchison, District 20; and Jimmy Dickson, District 14, who is working with the local sheriff and police departments, need your help if you have any information on these thefts. District: 2 Special ranger Ben Eggleston Date of theft: Cattle were noticed to be gone June 5, 2008 Location of theft: Four miles northwest of Alva, Okla. Method of break-in: Cattle were taken from an unlocked pasture: Property stolen: Nine head of mixed steers, weighing 460 to 500 pounds, branded with a connected WF on the left hip. District: 3 Special ranger: Joe Rector Date of theft: June 10, 2008 Location of theft: Clinton, Custer County, Okla. Method of break-in: Severe storms in the area had knocked gates to the pasture down. Due to heavy rains washing away all signs of traffic in the area, it is unknown if the subject(s) entered the pasture an took the cattle, or collected them off of the road. Property stolen: Eleven black Angus cows, 1,100 pounds each, branded with a 3R brand on the left hip; Nine black Angus calves, 200 to 225 pounds each, not branded. District: 14 Special ranger: Jimmy Dickson and the Van Zandt County sheriff's office. Date of theft: 2008 Location of theft: Van Zandt County, off 857 Method of break-in: Door pried open. Property stolen: Tesky ranch saddle, branded MB on the cantle, hard seat, rough out with tooling on the swells, 16-inch seat with a high back. Second saddle is an old roping saddle made in Combine, Texas, 14 1/2 padded seat. It is tooled and rough out. Several bridles and bits were also taken. District: 14 Special ranger: Jimmy Dickson and the Frankston Police Department. Date of theft: June Location of theft: Frankston, Anderson County Method of break-in: Tractor stolen from yard where it was for sale. Property stolen: 1983 model 45-hp John Deere 2150 tractor. Two-wheel drive, open station, front end loader. The tractor is freshly painted District: 20 Special ranger: Doug Hutchison Date of theft: Between Friday, May 30, 2008, at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at 6 p.m. Location of theft: Near Paige, Bastrop County, Texas Method of break-in: Cut the lock on the front entry gate. Property stolen: One green 2005 Yamaha Kodiak 450 4X4 ATV, VIN#5Y4AJ14Y65A013478. The victim stated the ATV is faded and has seen a lot of use on the ranch.
