There's still time to show your support for the RFS waiver

TSCRA member and Capitol Land & Livestock President Jim Schwertner began a campaign to show support for the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) waiver in May, asking cattle raisers to send letters in support of Gov. Rick Perry's request to the EPA for a RFS waiver.

The deadline for submitting comments is Monday, June 23, so Schwertner is again asking for your help to ask the EPA to consider the economic harm the RFS may cause the cattle industry.

You can read Schwertner's original call to action by clicking on the following link: go.

Jim Schwertner sends the following message to all those who have already faxed a letter, and to those who have yet to do so:

First, let me thank you very much for helping by sending out letters to the EPA.

When I first contacted you, we were at 4,000 letters. We now have 14,000 letters sent by you, to the EPA. We need one more push because the deadline is Monday June 23; if you have already sent one in that is enough. But please ask your friends to help.

High corn prices will make for higher food and fuel, so you are doing this to help yourself.

I know your time is very valuable, and I hope you understand how important this is. If you use www.myspace.com, that will be a good tool to get the word out also.

    Thank you very much,
    Jim Schwertner

If you agree with Gov. Perry's request to the EPA for a RFS waiver, print out this letter that Perry sent to the EPA. Then fax the letter back to Schwertner with your business card and signature on the bottom of Perry's letter. Schwertner will then give them all to Perry, showing your support and thanks. Please send your fax to 512/474-0120.
