Member gathering held in Canadian

More than 150 people attended the TSCRA member gathering in Canadian, Texas, on Saturday, July 26. All six new members joining the association on-site received a blue "Posted" member sign thanks to Bayer Animal Health.

The meeting was co-hosted by the Panhandle Livestock Association (PLA) and officiated by Van Baize, TSCRA director; and Dale Smith, TSCRA director and PLA president. Other hosts included Lee and Jaqui Haygood; Mike and Debbie Arrington; Jim Bill and Deborah Anderson; Clay and Julie Cooper; Mert and Betty Cooper; and John and Jill Baker.

The Cattle Exchange of Canadian provided a fine steak dinner and TSCRA's Jason Skaggs gave attendees an update on legislative affairs in Austin. Following Skaggs, Kenneth Chambers, TSCRA special ranger for district 1 discussed his job as a ranger and the benefits of becoming a member of the association.

Appreciation goes to Clay Cooper, Lee Haygood and John Baker, who helped set up for the event; and Lindy Craft and Renee Baize, who helped with the registration table.

Thanks go to sponsors Bayer Animal Health; Guy Bell and Jodi Stockett of Dow AgroSciences; Kathy Fowler with the Fowler Agency; Clifton Morgan of HiPro Feeds; Laphe LaRoe, Alice LaRoe, and Chandler LaRoe of McLean Feedyard; Marvin Franz from Wells Fargo; and Kenneth Thrasher with Canadian Feedyard.

In addition to the sponsors, TSCRA would like to thank the folks who assisted with getting the word out on the event: James Masters and Gary Austin, Wheeler Farm Bureau; John Baker, Canadian Banking Center; Orbin Lesley, First State Bank, Miami; George Briant, First National Bank Canadian; Donnie Johnston, First State Bank, Canadian; and Kelly Schultz, First State Bank Canadian/Follett Branch.
