Beef exports to the EU rise sharply

Exports to the 27 European Union (EU) countries in 2007 were $49 million. This is up from $29 million in 2006 and the largest figure since 1999.

"Even more remarkable is that $40.5 million of this was beef only," says NCBA Chief Economist Gregg Doud. "Traditionally we have exported primarily beef variety meats to the EU."
