Access to 31 field inspectors stationed in Texas and Oklahoma with the authority to search, seize and arrest. Assisting them are 75 market inspectors who monitor 140 cattle auctions and two horse-processing plants in Texas for stolen livestock. To back them up, TSCRA’s market inspection program maintains the nation’s largest computerized database of brand/consignor information, which allows financial institutions to better secure their collateral. In 2001, TSCRA field inspectors investigated 29 cases of mortgaged property being sold out of trust for agricultural banks and lending institutions. These 29 cases resulted in the recovery of $376,500 of assets.
